Keepin the Chaos at bay by chaosqueen122 Keepin the Chaos at bay by chaosqueen122
I got some new pastell chalk and other art supllies and a new camera for Christmas.

And I had to try out the chalk. Quite a long time since I last used such kind of chalk to draw.
about um 13 years or so :XD: and the pictures wer all um yeah messed up.
Now I have to watch youtube tutorials to make something nice with them.

this was originalla meant to be my mother but she cought me looking at her
and so I decided to draw something different than her :XD:

those Winter Queen depictions, how many of them did you mastermind?

it was extraordinarily adrenalizing stuff-

puzzling thing is, I thought i recalled seeing them, but not in any stack of yours:?

Um I would say two but I see you might disagree with me?

I'm not sure, maybe you saw ones Leo coloured for his contest
one of mine got coloured too.

But this one is far away from beeing a winter inspired art piece.

Thank you very much :) Um well I haven't mastered the camera now normally if I have not very good
light I use a cool colour filter to make the colours look nicer...but I haven't found the filter on the new
camera....and I thought the colours might not be as nice as they should.

Don't blow on the chalk dust of dry pastels take the artwork outside, turn the drawing upside down & gently tap it to get rid of the fine dust. Breathing that dust of dry pastels is NOT good for your lungs.

Maybe your mom would have loved being a subject matter in your artwork. If this piece is based on her she is young & very beautiful.

Thank you very much that's a good advice :D
Do you use chalk often? How do you make it blend, and still
keep the richness of the colour (I hope you know what I mean)
That's my biggest trouble at the moment.

:XD: um well She is in her late 40 and I only based the face outline
on her...she than cought me staring and than I just drew with out
any references.

Because of my lung issues, I do not use this medium often. I never mastered it.

Things I remember are: Always tap excess residue outside, never blow it.
Work from dark to light. Darker colors go on the bottom & lighter colors on top.
I used a Matt spray recommended for dry or oil pastels when layering to  keep colors from blending & to set them.
The spray will change the color of the drawings, the colors will get darker.
Do not use Varnish or Matt sprays inside.

I don't use pastel chalk often and it has been also a long time for me since I used it, but if you mean by blending rubbing with your finger over the drawing, then I have to say that's not a good way to do that (I think). You should just go with your chalk over your color. But I'm not sure if that's the good way to do it.
